With the family sigil that is literally inscribed with the words ''Valiant by sea and land''. This resulted in many people believing that she was predestined to be one of the most impressive and influential Sea Captains in Ireland.

She was born to inherit Irelands Largest trading and shipping businesses during the 16th century. Hence her Irish alias, Grainne Mhaol has ledgendary status in all of the countries provinces.

She was renowned for carrying out attacks and raids on various towns along the eastern and western coastline. Howth is where she carried out one of her more bizarre assaults.
​
she was on a voyage from london, there she met with Queen Elizabeth I. As a result from a long voyage, she landed in Howth in order to replenish her ship's reserves. Though she was a formidable figuire she was denied entry at the gates of Howth Castle.
​
As retaliation she abducted the Lord of Howth's grandson and would only return him if no was ever refused entry. Additionally above all that an extra place was set at the Lord's table if should an unexpected visitor should join

She eventually gave the heir back.
​
To this day, that place at the table in Howth Castle is laid out as a tribute to the events that happened on that momentous day. That was almost 450 years ago.
